Nationaltrainer – Malta Golf Association

Nicholas is a British, Berlin-based PGA Professional whose passion for golf is matched by his commitment to developing athletes and helping them reach their full potential. Since joining the Malta men’s and women’s national teams in November 2025, he has brought a high-performance approach built on extensive international experience, technical expertise, and a strong focus on the physical and mental aspects of the game. His coaching combines biomechanics, fitness, swing technique, short game, long game, and performance psychology, helping athletes develop not only their technical abilities but also the confidence, resilience, focus, and composure required to perform at the highest level under pressure.

Nicholas spent a decade with the world-renowned David Leadbetter Golf Academy and holds advanced qualifications through the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI), bringing world-class knowledge, experience, and innovation to the Maltese national programme. His dedication, attention to detail, and unwavering belief in the potential of every athlete have helped create a culture of excellence, professionalism, ambition, and continuous improvement within both national teams.

This impact was reflected in an exceptional achievement at this year’s European Team Shield Championship, held from the end of July into the beginning of August. The Maltese national teams have been competing in the European Championships for the past 12 years, making this year’s results an especially significant milestone. Under Nicholas’s guidance, the men’s team won the gold medal and became European Champions, while the women’s team secured the silver medal and became European Vice-Champions.

To achieve a European Championship title and a European Vice-Championship in the same year, after 12 years of competing at European level, is an incredible accomplishment for Maltese golf. It represents a fantastic highlight and a powerful confirmation of the talent, potential, and growing strength of golf in Malta. These results are a testament to the commitment and hard work of the players, while also demonstrating the positive impact of a professional high-performance environment and providing an exciting foundation for the continued development of Malta’s national golf programme on the European and international stage.
